LIME

(Citrus aurantifolia)

We love limes in margaritas but as an essential oil, it has some great properties. It can be extracted through cold press of the peel of the fruit or steam distilled from the whole fruit. Lime is a refreshing and stimulating oil that can help lift negative moods and promote focus.

Aromatic Profile

Lime essential oil has a clear citrusy aroma that is fresh and sweet. You can blend this nicely with neroli, lavender, grapefruit, geranium, lemon, ylang ylang, bergamot and other citrus oils.

Uses

Lime essential oil would be a great choice for freshening up a room and with antiseptic properties it can be extremely helpful in controlling oily skin and clearing acne. Lime has been known to assist with complaints of sore throats and colds. Try using this uplifting oil when you feel like you need mental stimulation.

Safety

  • Non-toxic
  • Non-irritant
  • Non-sensitising
  • Essential oil extracted through the cold press method is phototoxic (steam distilled oil isn’t) so take care not to use this oil in direct sunlight.
